State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection has created an algorithm: what to do if you receive a damaged product

Фахівці Державної служби України з безпеки харчових продуктів та захисту споживачів розробили покрокові рекомендації для дій у випадку отримання продукції з ушкодженнями.

Algorithm for Consumer Rights Protection

The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Kirovohrad region has prepared an algorithm for protecting consumer rights when receiving damaged goods. This algorithm aims to outline clear actions that the consumer should take in case defects in the product are discovered after receiving it.

The main rule to remember is to inspect the product before signing the receipt document. The consumer needs to carry out a thorough inspection of the product to identify any possible damages. If defects are found, it is important to create a Damage Report. This document must record:

  • the nature of the damage to the product;
  • the condition of the packaging;
  • the shipment number;
  • the date and signature or stamp of the postal employee.

Moreover, it is important to know how to document the issue. The consumer can contact the seller or marketplace if they are at fault, or the delivery service if the responsibility lies with them. Thus, the algorithm prepared by the State Service provides consumers with the necessary tools to protect their rights in case of receiving damaged products.

The Importance of the Algorithm for Consumers

This algorithm is an important step in protecting consumer rights as it provides clear instructions and helps avoid potential difficulties when returning or exchanging defective products. In the context of the growing popularity of online shopping, knowing one's rights and the process of their protection becomes increasingly relevant for consumers.
