Enhancing Security Along Logistics Corridors
Under the directive of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, the State Special Transport Service has been actively deploying advanced anti-drone protection across critical logistics routes. Since April 2025, specialists have equipped 2,013 kilometers of these pathways with counter-drone technology. The goal is to extend this coverage to 4,000 kilometers on key border-area highways by the end of 2026, significantly strengthening national transportation security.
Road Maintenance and Repairs
Starting April 2026, the State Special Transport Service units also undertook maintenance and repair work on over 600 kilometers of roads. Repair operations are ongoing on 16 sections, while 41 sections have been fully restored. In August alone, 214 kilometers of anti-drone defenses were constructed along major highways, alongside repairs completed on 130 kilometers of roadways.
The Kherson region has seen particularly intensive efforts, with more than 200 kilometers of logistics routes now protected by anti-drone systems. These measures are critical for safeguarding transport corridors amid evolving security challenges faced by Ukraine.
This ambitious initiative to shield logistics routes from drone threats represents a vital advancement in securing Ukraine’s transportation infrastructure. Beyond counter-drone efforts, the ongoing road repairs will improve the overall transport network’s resilience and efficiency, which is essential for maintaining the smooth flow of goods and services across the country’s borders and within its territory.
In addition to these significant advancements in anti-drone systems, recent developments in drone interception techniques have been observed in Zaporizhzhia, where three-layer nets successfully captured a drone over a stretch of more than 5 kilometers of roads. These complementary efforts highlight the multifaceted approach Ukraine is taking to enhance its logistics security and protect vital transportation routes.
