New State Payments via the Diia App in 2026
Starting in 2026, Ukrainian citizens will be able to apply for two new state payments through the Diia app: a basic social assistance program for families and targeted funds for medical screening. The application process will be simplified through digitalization, with most data pulled automatically from state registries. This initiative is part of a broader digital transformation of public services in Ukraine.
Basic Social Assistance
The basic social assistance payment will be granted for a period of six months. The starting amount will be 4,500 hryvnias, but the final sum will depend on family income and composition. In some cases, the payment could exceed 10,000 hryvnias. Eligibility for this assistance is targeted at:
- low-income families,
- single mothers,
- families where parents are missing or are evading alimony payments.
Payment may be denied if a family has made a purchase exceeding 100,000 hryvnias or holds significant savings. Funds will also not be granted if able-bodied family members have been unemployed for over three months and are not registered with an employment center.
Medical Screening Payment
The medical screening payment will be set at 2,000 hryvnias. This money will be available to individuals who have reached 40 years of age. The state will send an invitation via the Diia app 30 days after the recipient's birthday. Funds will be transferred to a Diia.Card within a week but can only be spent on examinations and tests. Strict usage deadlines are in place:
- If the birthday falls before September 30, the money is valid until December 17 of the current year,
- If the birthday is between October and December, the funds are valid until March 31, 2027.
Any unused funds will be automatically returned to the state budget.
The process for applying for these payments in Diia has been streamlined. As specialists note:
"The government has now simplified the process - most data is verified automatically, and the application takes minimal time."
To receive the basic social assistance, users need to update the app, navigate to 'Services' -> 'State Assistance', select 'Basic Social Assistance', provide the necessary data and payment card details, and sign the application using Diia.Signature.
The introduction of these new payments through the Diia app is a component of the Ukrainian government's strategy to improve social welfare by digitizing public services. The automation aims to reduce bureaucratic barriers and speed up access to financial aid for those in need. This could significantly ease the lives of low-income families and individuals requiring medical check-ups, a particularly relevant goal given the country's current challenges.
