New Online Options for Social Benefits in Ukraine
Ukrainians can now apply for several types of financial aid entirely online through the government's 'Diia' mobile app, eliminating the need to visit state offices in person. This digital process is designed to be straightforward, significantly improving access to crucial funds for citizens. The Diia platform is a central part of the government's effort to modernize public services.
Key Support Programs Available
The primary support programs accessible via 'Diia' include:
- Winter aid payments of 1,000 hryvnias;
- A one-time payment of 6,500 hryvnias for vulnerable population groups;
- A new basic social assistance program starting at approximately 4,500 hryvnias per family.
This new basic payment consolidates several previously existing benefits and is targeted at low-income families, single parents, and children whose parents do not pay alimony.
The assistance amount is calculated automatically within the app, based on family composition and income. Funds are deposited onto a 'Diia.Card' for convenient use. A key requirement for receiving aid is the confirmation of data by all adult family members. Authorities plan to transition most types of assistance to this online format, aiming to simplify and speed up the process of obtaining social support for many Ukrainians.
This innovation represents a significant step toward the digitalization of government services in Ukraine.
Streamlining the process of receiving social aid could greatly ease the lives of many Ukrainians, especially those in need of urgent financial support. Furthermore, the shift to an online format may reduce the burden on government offices and increase the efficiency of social service delivery.
