Tracking Access to Personal Data Within the Diia App
A new monitoring subsystem has been launched in the Diia application, designed to track how government agencies access citizens' personal information through the Trembita system. This feature records every instance of data retrieval and promptly notifies the user. However, requests made as part of pre-trial investigations or criminal proceedings are excluded from these notifications.
Users of the Diia app can now see exactly who has looked at their personal data. The newly implemented monitoring subsystem for the Trembita electronic data exchange platform operates automatically, logging each government body’s request the moment it is made. In the past, such requests went completely unnoticed by individuals, but now data owners will be informed whenever a state institution accesses their information.
When a request occurs, the user receives a notification within the Diia app. This alert includes details such as which agency made the request, the exact date and time, and the stated purpose. It is important to note that alerts will not be sent for checks conducted under pre-trial investigations or criminal cases. Diia users do not need to adjust any settings to begin receiving these updates—the feature works automatically.
Benefits of the New Monitoring System
The introduction of this monitoring subsystem marks a significant step toward greater transparency and stronger protection of personal data in Ukraine. It empowers citizens to better understand how and when their information is used by government bodies. Furthermore, this innovation is expected to boost public trust in digital services, as people now have more control over who can access their private data.
In addition to the new monitoring feature, the Diia app continues to evolve with additional functionalities aimed at simplifying citizen interactions with government services. For instance, the recent introduction of a digital taxpayer card offers users a convenient way to manage their tax obligations directly from their smartphones. This integration enhances the overall user experience while reinforcing the commitment to digital transparency in Ukraine.
