New Activation Process for Diia Digital Signature

The Diia app is introducing a new procedure for activating its digital signature feature, Diia.Pidpys. This process will require users to have a physical biometric ID document and a smartphone equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. Once activated, signing documents will only require a PIN code, streamlining the entire process. Diia provides Ukrainians with access to over 160 different government services. It's important to note that, despite rumors, there are no plans to introduce a fee for using the Diia app.

Activation Requirements and Steps

To activate the signature, users must possess an original ID card, a biometric passport, or a residence permit. Existing digital signatures will remain functional until they are deactivated or expire, allowing users who have already set them up to continue without taking any new action. Smartphone compatibility is also crucial: only devices with NFC support will be able to create the new signature.

The activation process will proceed as follows:

  • Select 'activate' within the Diia.Pidpys menu.
  • Scan the number from your ID card or biometric passport.
  • Hold the document to the back of your smartphone for NFC reading.
  • Verify your identity.

A nationwide digital employment system is scheduled to launch in October 2026, promising an even greater array of new services for Ukrainian citizens.

This new activation algorithm for Diia.Pidpys represents a significant step in simplifying document processing for Ukrainians and improving access to electronic services.

The integration of NFC technology will allow users to sign documents more quickly and conveniently, which is expected to positively impact the digitization of public services in Ukraine. Furthermore, the launch of the unified digital employment system in 2026 will open up new opportunities in the realms of employment and social services.
