Overview of the Diia.Card Project ‘Caring for Children’
The Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine, in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and several banks, has launched the Diia.Card project called ‘Caring for Children.’ This initiative aims to streamline the process for applying for child benefits by significantly reducing the waiting period for application review. Since August 3rd, the average processing time for child benefit applications has dropped to just 4 days.
Recent statistics reveal that 49.2% of decisions regarding applications submitted via Diia.Card are made within 3 working days, while 84.7% are finalized within 10 days. These improvements demonstrate a marked enhancement in the efficiency of handling child support claims. As part of the pilot phase, efforts are also underway to enable parents to apply for child benefits entirely online through the Diia app.
International Support and Social Reform Efforts
This project benefits from the backing of the EGAP Program and the Eastern Europe Foundation in cooperation with Switzerland, highlighting the vital role of international partnerships in advancing Ukraine’s social initiatives. The collaboration between government bodies and financial institutions is focused on providing families with faster and more convenient access to social services.
The introduction of the ‘Caring for Children’ program reflects Ukraine’s ongoing commitment to modernizing social welfare systems and improving living conditions for families. Reducing application processing times marks a significant step toward more effective social protection. Moreover, expanding online application options promises to simplify benefit access and reduce bureaucratic hurdles for citizens.
