Online 'Generator Operator' Course Launched
The Diia.Education platform has introduced a new 'Generator Operator' course, designed to teach safe generator operation. Developed in partnership with Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) and the State Labour Service, the program is open to all interested individuals, including utility company staff responsible for maintaining communication base stations.
This initiative is particularly timely, as power reliability remains a critical concern in many regions. The course includes a comprehensive guide with step-by-step safety instructions and covers essential topics such as:
- Preventing injuries, burns, and chemical poisoning;
- Correct generator installation procedures;
- Prohibited actions for generator operators.
In November 2025, the Ukrainian Government adopted a resolution permitting the involvement of utility companies in supporting local communication infrastructure. Upon completing the training, participants can take a final assessment and receive a certification granting formal qualification to work with this equipment.
The launch of this course represents a significant step toward improving workplace safety for personnel operating generators. With stable power supply being crucial for maintaining communication networks, and with utility workers playing a key support role, proper operator training is essential for preventing accidents and enhancing overall operational efficiency in this field.
