At the meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, chaired by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, three key issues were considered regarding the defense and diplomatic priorities of the state before the upcoming negotiations between the USA and Russia in Alaska.
According to Zelensky, great attention was paid to the situation at the front, particularly in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian forces are actively countering Russian provocations. The president praised the effectiveness of the work of certain units, noting that 'The 79th and 82nd Air Assault Brigades are acting very effectively in the direction of Dobropillya'.
The second issue raised at the meeting concerned the development of the contracting system in the Defense Forces and the financing of the defense sector for the upcoming years. Zelensky emphasized the importance of developing a contract army.
The third key point of the discussions was the expectation of an intelligence report on the intentions of the Russian side before the negotiations in Alaska. The president expressed hope for a positive outcome from the upcoming meetings between Ukraine, the USA, and Russia in a trilateral format.
During the meeting with the government team, the Office, and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, priority areas of diplomatic work, financing of the Defense Forces, and plans for foreign policy work until the end of the year were also discussed. An updated plan is expected in the coming days.
