Dynamo's Pre-Season Preparations Get Underway
Kyiv's Dynamo kicked off their pre-season campaign on June 15 with a training camp in Austria. Under the guidance of head coach Ihor Kostyuk, the squad is intensively preparing for the upcoming Europa League qualifiers. The draw for the first qualifying round is set for tomorrow, with matches scheduled for July 9 and July 16. This camp represents a critical phase for the team as they aim to hit the ground running in European competition.
Schedule of Friendly Matches
During the summer training camp, Dynamo has arranged five exhibition games. The first test comes on June 20 against Prague's Slavia. Over the next two weeks, the team will face opponents from the Czech, Slovak, Polish, and Austrian leagues. The full lineup of friendlies is as follows:
- June 20 - Dynamo vs. Slavia
- June 24 - Dynamo vs. Žilina
- June 28 - Dynamo vs. Wieczysta
- July 2 - Dynamo vs. opponent to be confirmed
- July 3 - Dynamo vs. LASK
The squad for the camp includes a new signing: goalkeeper Illia Olkhovyi, who joined Dynamo from Ternopil's Nyva. Additionally, several players have returned from loan spells, among them forward Ponomarenko. He finished as the top scorer in the Ukrainian Premier League last season, netting 13 goals in just 15 appearances.
Dynamo's pre-season training in Austria is a strategically vital stage as the team gears up for the Europa League qualifiers. The series of friendlies will allow the coaching staff to evaluate player fitness and make final adjustments to the lineup before official matches begin.
It is worth noting that many Ukrainian national team players have been granted extra rest days, so the squad is currently being assembled with a focus on maximizing readiness for the challenges ahead. The coaching staff has set ambitious objectives for the new season, and this summer camp in Austria is expected to play a key role in achieving those goals.
As Dynamo prepares for its upcoming friendlies, the anticipation surrounding the potential Europa League rivals intensifies. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of possible opponents will be crucial for the team's strategy in the qualifiers. This insight will complement their training efforts as they gear up for the competitive matches ahead.
