Dynamo Kyiv Presents Awards
FC Dynamo Kyiv has announced its best player and coach for the combined period of February and March. Forward Matvii Ponomarenko was voted the top performer, while coach Ihor Kostiuk received the award for best manager. These awards are a significant recognition of form within the Ukrainian Premier League.
Recognizing Ponomarenko and Kostiuk's Success
Ponomarenko returned from the winter break in impressive form, scoring seven goals across five league matches. He scored braces in victories over Epitsentr (4:0) and Polissia (2:1). In the voting, Ponomarenko secured 32.3% of the expert vote and 40.1% of the fan vote. The runner-up was Polissia winger Oleksii Hutsuliak, who received 15.8% from experts and 11.8% from fans.
Coach Ihor Kostiuk was named the best coach for the latter half of February and all of March. Under his leadership, Dynamo achieved a perfect record of five wins in five matches, including victories against:
- Rukh (1:0)
- Obolon (2:1)
- Oleksandriia (5:0)
Kostiuk earned 43.5% of the expert vote and 41.9% of the fan vote. He finished ahead of Ruslan Rotan, who was supported by 30.5% of pundits and 24.9% of supporters.
In other club news, Dynamo has extended the contract of midfielder Vladyslav Kabayev until the summer of 2028. In the Ukrainian Cup semifinals, Dynamo will face Bukovyna, while the other semifinal pairing is Metalist 1925 versus Chernihiv.
