Ulyana's Remarkable Old House Renovation
About 15 years ago, interior and landscape designer Ulyana purchased a century-old house in a village in the Odesa region for roughly $1,500. Since then, she has carried out an extensive renovation: the original part of the home was restored, new rooms were added, and the roof was completely replaced.
The story of this transformation was shared on YouTube by Ulyana's friend, Anastasiya Sokol. Sokol noted that the surrounding area is quite hilly, with scenery that somewhat resembles Japanese landscapes. Initially, the plan was to design the property as a Japanese garden, but adjustments were made along the way. One of the standout features is a pond, though it was originally intended to be larger. Due to high costs, part of the pond had to be filled in.
Design and Interior
A spacious gazebo was also built on the property, complementing the overall design. Inside, the house now contains two separate living areas, each with its own kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. Some rooms are heated by a fireplace, while an annex features a handmade stove crafted by a local artisan. Among the interior highlights is an old beehive with a number, preserved during the renovation. Additionally, many of the artworks displayed in the home were gifted by friends and guests.
