On April 1, a new price increase for fuel was recorded in Ukraine, including diesel, against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East. Despite the government's attempts to stabilize the market, prices continue to rise. This is reported by “24 Kanal”.

According to the “Consulting Group A-95”, the average prices across the country are as follows:

  • Premium gasoline A-95 — 75.43 UAH/l

  • Gasoline A-95 — 71.68 UAH/l

  • Gasoline A-92 — 66.39 UAH/l

  • Diesel fuel — 85.82 UAH/l

  • Auto gas — 46.86 UAH/l.

Prices vary slightly in different regions. For example, in the Lviv region, diesel costs an average of 86.18 UAH/l, in Kyiv — 85.86 UAH/l, and in Kharkiv — 85.13 UAH/l.

Fuel prices in Ukraine: how costs have changed in the regions

There is a slight variation in prices across different regions, but the overall trend remains the same — a gradual increase in prices. The highest figures among the listed regions were recorded in Lviv and Odesa oblasts.

Experts note that predicting further dynamics is difficult. According to energy expert Hennadiy Ryabcev, there are currently no obvious factors to restrain prices in premium networks. At the same time, Volodymyr Omelchenko points out that the reasons for the increase are broader than the geopolitical situation.

Rising diesel prices: what measures the state has implemented

To mitigate the situation, the government has introduced temporary support measures. In particular, the “National Cashback” program is in effect, which provides:

  • 15% compensation on diesel

  • 10% — on gasoline

  • 5% — on auto gas.

The maximum payout is limited to 1000 UAH per month and is credited automatically.

Moreover, according to Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko, “Ukrnafta” is to sell fuel with a minimal markup to establish a market benchmark. The authorities are also working with international partners to increase imports.

Price control has been tightened by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and the State Consumer Service to prevent unjustified price increases.

It should be noted that after the escalation of the situation in the Middle East, the fuel market in Ukraine is reacting with a swift rise in prices. The state is trying to maintain a balance between market conditions and the availability of fuel for the population.
