From March 1, 2026, some Ukrainians will receive pensions exceeding 20 thousand hryvnias. This concerns participants of the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP accident with group I disabilities. This is reported by TSN.
The Pension Fund of Ukraine clarified that Chernobyl liquidators can retire earlier than the general age by 5, 8, or 10 years depending on the duration of work in the exclusion zone. The amount of payments is determined according to current legislation.
Pensions for Chernobyl liquidators from March 1: new minimum amounts
From March 1, 2026, the minimum amount of pensions for liquidators of the Chornobyl disaster will be:

for individuals with group I disabilities - 20,653.55 UAH

for individuals with group II disabilities - 16,522.84 UAH

for individuals with group III disabilities - 12,392.13 UAH.
Currently, the minimum payments are 17,486.60 UAH, 13,989.28 UAH, and 10,491.96 UAH, respectively.
Pension indexation in 2026: what the government has planned
The Cabinet of Ministers has agreed on the main parameters for pension indexation for 2026. Payments will be increased by 12.1%, which exceeds last year's inflation rate by 4%.
Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Denys Uliutin reported: «The recalculation will take place from March 1. We are currently finalizing the normative act that will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers».
The indexation mechanism operates on the basis of the law on mandatory state pension insurance. After a pause in 2014, it was resumed within the framework of the pension reform of 2017.
In addition to regular old-age pensions, Ukraine provides for preferential payments for certain categories of citizens who are entitled to early retirement due to working conditions.
