Andrey Gyurov's Visit to Kyiv

Acting Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Andrey Gyurov, has arrived in Kyiv leading a delegation of ministers for high-level meetings with Ukrainian officials. This visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations. Bulgaria, a member of both the EU and NATO, plays a significant role in regional security and support.

The delegation accompanying Gyurov includes the following ministers:

  • Nadezhda Neinska — Minister of Foreign Affairs
  • Korman Ismailov — Minister of Transport and Communications
  • Atanas Zapryanov — Minister of Defence
  • Sergey Ignatov — Minister of Education and Science
  • Traycho Traykov — Minister of Energy

Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Maryana Betsa welcomed the delegation at the Kyiv railway station.

Scheduled Meetings

During the visit, Andrey Gyurov is scheduled to meet with:

  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
  • Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko
  • Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk

Andrey Gyurov, who became Bulgaria's Prime Minister in February 2026, previously served as Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank. He has been tasked with preparing the country for snap parliamentary elections. His visit to Ukraine marks a significant step in advancing cooperation between the two states. This high-level engagement underscores the importance both nations place on their strategic partnership.

This diplomatic mission occurs against a backdrop of deepening collaboration between Ukraine and Bulgaria, which holds considerable potential to impact regional stability and the economic development of both countries. The high-level meetings are expected to help define key areas for cooperation, particularly in energy, defence, and education—sectors of heightened relevance under current global circumstances. It is notable that both countries are seeking to fortify their bilateral ties during a period of significant international challenges.

As Bulgaria seeks to enhance its strategic partnerships, this visit mirrors recent diplomatic efforts by other leaders in the region. For instance, Zelenskyy's recent trip to Saudi Arabia also aimed at fostering crucial international ties, highlighting the growing importance of collaboration in global affairs.
