David Lammi's Visit to Kyiv
UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammi has arrived in Kyiv. His visit is for the UK-Ukraine Centenary Partnership Forum, where future cooperation will be discussed. This trip underscores the intensive collaboration between the two nations, formalized by a centenary partnership agreement that came into force on October 15, 2025. The UK has been one of Ukraine's most steadfast supporters since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion.
Military Aid and Infrastructure Recovery
Under the agreement, the UK is committed to providing Ukraine with at least £3.6 billion in annual military assistance through the 2030/31 financial year. Additionally, the UK has announced a further £20 million in aid for the restoration and protection of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has been a frequent target of Russian attacks.
Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, the Ukrainian ambassador, noted that this visit is another testament to the active cooperation between the countries. He also emphasized that discussions will cover various areas, including the economy, recovery, education, and security. Zaluzhnyi thanked the UK for its assistance and its active role in advocating for Ukraine's interests during these difficult times.
Yvette Cooper also observed that Moscow currently shows no serious interest in peace, highlighting the critical importance of support from international partners.
