Prisoner Return Operation in Ukraine
In a major prisoner exchange, 157 captives have been returned to Ukraine. The group includes military personnel from various units and civilians, with the majority having been held since 2022. Among them is Nazar Daletskyi, a resident of Velykyi Doroshiv village, who had been listed as killed in action since September 2022. Such prisoner swaps are a critical, though often protracted, element of the ongoing conflict.

According to information provided by Head of the President's Office Kyrylo Budanov, 139 of the freed individuals had been in captivity since 2022. The group also includes 19 unlawfully convicted defenders, 15 of whom had received life sentences. The return of these people marks a significant step in Ukraine's ongoing efforts to secure the freedom of its citizens held by Russia. This exchange is the first to occur in five months, and was facilitated through an agreement between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia to swap a total of 314 prisoners. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that work continues to free all Ukrainians from Russian captivity, underscoring the importance of every effort in this direction.
The Kulikivska village council in the Lviv district described the prisoners' return as 'a miracle borne of courage, faith, and the love of those who never stopped waiting.'
