Starting from January 1, 2026, new regulations regarding card transactions will come into effect in Poland. The tax authority will receive data on all transactions made with corporate cards, as well as on individual expenditures exceeding a certain amount. In Poland reports about this.

How the System Will Work

Polish banks will provide the tax authority with information about all transactions made through corporate accounts every month, regardless of whether it's payments in stores or online purchases. For regular citizens, a financial threshold will apply — 25 thousand euros per year (approximately 106 thousand zlotys). If card expenditures exceed this limit, the bank will inform the tax authority about the respective payments.

If annual expenses remain below 25 thousand euros, information about the cardholder will not be sent to the authorities. Thus, the government aims to track large financial flows, preventing tax evasion and the use of shadow income.

What Will Be Checked

The tax authority will compare expenditure amounts with declared incomes. If it turns out that the expenditures significantly exceed the earned funds or their origin is not confirmed by official documents, controllers may initiate an audit or even an investigation.

The Goal of the New Regulations

Financial analysts explain that this step is intended to make the taxation system more transparent and help combat the illicit circulation of money. The government expects that the introduction of automatic transaction monitoring will increase tax revenues and reduce the number of fictitious payments.
