Ukraine won 23 medals at the European Youth Festival: a historic success

The Ukrainian national team added two medals to its collection at the European Weightlifting Championship U20 & U23 in Albania. Iryna Dombrovska won gold in the snatch (108 kg) in the weight category up to 77 kg among the youth under 23 years old, placed 4th in the clean and jerk (122 kg), and became a silver medalist in the total of the competition (230 kg).



Ukraine entered the top 10 of the overall medal ranking of the European Youth Olympic Festival, finishing in 10th place. The Ukrainian team’s haul includes: 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals. This is the second most successful performance of Ukraine in the history of participation in the Festivals since 1993! The 'blue-yellow' team earned more medals only in 2019, when they secured 25 awards.



The most successful sport was judo - our athletes won six medals, including bronze in the mixed team tournament on the final competition day. In addition to judo, representatives of sports such as swimming (2 gold, 2 silver, and bronze), athletics (gold, silver, and 2 bronzes), taekwondo (2 silver and bronze), shooting (silver and bronze), rhythmic gymnastics (silver and bronze), and table tennis (bronze) contributed to Ukraine's medal tally.



At the European Weightlifting Championship, the Ukrainian team showed impressive results, finishing in 10th place in the overall medal ranking and winning 23 awards. Judo was the most successful sport for the Ukrainian team, bringing six valuable medals. Ukrainian athletes also impressed with their achievements in swimming, athletics, taekwondo, shooting, gymnastics, and table tennis, demonstrating a high level of skill and resilience.
