Polish Prime Minister Speaks on Migration Policy

Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, affirmed his firm commitment to safeguarding the country's borders against illegal migration, emphasizing adherence to Poland's strict asylum policies. He made it clear that Poland does not accept asylum applications that do not meet legal criteria and actively deports individuals violating national laws. These remarks were delivered during a series of meetings held in Brussels from October 14 to 16.

Diplomatic Engagements and International Meetings

During this period, Tusk met with leaders from the Visegrád Group and participated in gatherings of the "Friends of Cohesion" group and the "Northern Nine" format. He also attended the European People's Party summit. Among his key discussions were talks with Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, and a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. On October 16, Tusk took part in an informal roundtable with the prime ministers of Italy, Denmark, and the Netherlands focused on migration issues, followed by participation in a working session of the European Council.

In addition to these engagements, Tusk announced plans for an official visit to China scheduled before the end of 2023. These activities highlight Poland's proactive foreign policy under Tusk's leadership, prioritizing national security and strategic interests.

Tusk's statements underscore Poland's clear stance on migration control, reflecting the broader security challenges facing Europe today.

Poland's active role in international negotiations and summits demonstrates its determination to influence European migration policies, which could shape the future flow of migrants in the region. Furthermore, the upcoming visit to China signals Poland's intention to strengthen economic ties with a key Asian partner, marking a significant aspect of the country's foreign policy strategy.
