Disturbing Incident During the National Multi-Subject Test
Yeva, the daughter of Victor Bronyuk—frontman of the band Tik—fell ill while sitting for this year’s National Multi-Subject Test (NMT). Instead of offering support, teachers threatened to invalidate her exam, sparking outrage from her father. Victor Bronyuk stated:
“She did well. She completed it, and did well! The scores, essentially, are not what matters. The anxiety, the emotions she experienced—it was absolutely terrible. This year, I think it’s a form of torment, given the conditions... She was so overwhelmed with worry that she became unwell. Instead of support at that moment, a bunch of teachers were shouting that they would cancel the test. The poor child felt awful, and they dragged her back in.”
University Plans Still Uncertain
Yeva Bronyuk has not yet chosen a university but intends to continue her education in Ukraine. Her father shared that they are currently considering several institutions:
“She doesn’t know herself—she’s exhausted. We’ve looked through so many universities, but it will definitely be in Ukraine. Right now, we’re reviewing a few options. We’ll decide, and I’ll share the news later.”
It is also worth noting that this year, successful graduate Illia Obozovsky achieved perfect scores of 200 on three NMT subjects, earning 797 out of a possible 800 points. Illia graduated from Horokhiv Lyceum No. 1. His performance highlights the critical role of support and proper testing conditions for achieving excellence in Ukraine’s exam system.
This incident involving Victor Bronyuk’s daughter sheds light on the challenges students face during exams and underscores the importance of emotional support during this high-pressure period. The teachers’ reaction in a moment of acute stress can profoundly affect a student’s psychological well-being. At the same time, the achievements of other students, like Illia Obozovsky, demonstrate that with the right environment and encouragement, outstanding results are possible—an essential goal for Ukraine’s educational framework.
This incident not only highlights the immense pressure students face during exams but also raises questions about the adequacy of support systems in place. As Yeva Bronyuk navigates her future educational choices, it's crucial to consider the potential pitfalls students may encounter in high-stakes testing environments.
