Supplement of 2595 UAH: who will receive it among pensioners and who will lose it in May 2026

In 2026, Ukraine tightened the rules for assigning supplements for pensioners living in areas of radioactive contamination after the Chernobyl disaster. Now to receive a monthly supplement of 2595 UAH, not only the place of residence is taken into account but also the person's registration history. This is reported by Na pensii.

Who has the right to the 2595 UAH supplement in 2026

The supplement can be received by non-working pensioners who live in areas of radioactive contamination and have official status as victims of the Chernobyl disaster.

However, it is no longer sufficient just to be in this category to receive payments. The state checks whether the person has a 'historical' connection with the contaminated territory.

Pensioners who:

1. Lived or worked in the zone as of April 26, 1986.
2. Or were there during the period from 1986 to 1993.

Under what conditions may a pensioner be denied payment

One of the main conditions is the continuity of residence in the contaminated zone after 1993.

If a person temporarily changes their registration and leaves such a territory after January 1, 1993, the supplement may be denied.

At the same time, moving between settlements within the zone itself is not considered a violation of the rules.

Moreover, the supplement will not be assigned to people who:

1. Left the zone after the disaster and returned later.
2. Settled there after the catastrophe.
3. Cannot confirm residence in 1986-1993.

When might pensioners lose the supplement

Payments may be stopped not only due to problems with documents or registration.

Reasons for the cancellation of the supplement may also include:

1. Employment of the pensioner.
2. Moving to another region of Ukraine.
3. Discrepancies in data in state registers.

In 2026, the right to payment is actively checked through electronic databases, so even minor discrepancies in documents can be a reason for denial.

Why the rules for receiving payments have become stricter

The government has tightened control over Chernobyl supplements due to the need to clarify the circle of people who truly have the right to state support.

As of 2026, the monthly supplement for such pensioners amounts to 2595 UAH.
