In Sumy region, registration for new financial assistance for vulnerable categories of the population was opened in May 2026. Residents of certain communities can receive a one-time payment of 10,800 hryvnias to cover basic needs. This was reported by the Ukrainian Red Cross Society.
Help of 10,800 UAH in Sumy region available for vulnerable families
The program is implemented by the Sumy regional organization of the Red Cross with the support of the U.S. Department of State.
Currently, residents of the Putyvl city community of the Konotop district can apply. Registration is open for residents of the following elder districts:
Zinivsky;
Babynsky;
Volokytynsky;
Vyazensky;
Zarychchansky;
Rudnevsky.
The organizers explain that the funds can be spent on food, medicine, utility payments, transportation, or clothing.
Who can receive payments from the Red Cross in May 2026
Priority for receiving assistance is given to families with people with disabilities, elderly citizens, displaced persons, and low-income households.
The program can also be used by:
large families;
single parents or guardians;
citizens aged 65 and older;
internally displaced persons.
The amount of assistance is 1,800 hryvnias per person per month for six months. The total amount is paid in one payment - 10,800 hryvnias.
The Red Cross notes that the program is aimed at supporting residents of frontline communities who, due to the war and difficult economic situation, need additional financial assistance.
For residents of Sumy region, this is an opportunity to partially cover basic expenses and reduce financial burden in conditions of constant danger and high living costs.
