Ukraine Makes First Appearance at EUFASA Conference

Tetiana Sybiha and Natalia Karasevych marked Ukraine’s inaugural participation at the 42nd Conference of the European Association of Spouses, Partners, and Families of Diplomatic Service Employees (EUFASA), held on May 18–19 in Dublin. Ukraine attended the event as an observer country. Sybiha, who leads the Association of Spouses of Ukrainian Diplomats and is married to Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, presented the organization’s work, which has united over 150 active members since 2021.

EUFASA has held its annual conference since 1985. This year’s edition brought together more than 60 participants from 23 countries. The agenda centered on key topics such as:

  • social protection
  • mobility
  • children’s education
  • adaptation
  • professional development
  • psychological resilience
  • prevention of burnout

The conference also featured presentations of national support systems for diplomatic families from Belgium, New Zealand, and Canada.

Ukrainian Book Corner Launched in Dublin

During her visit to Ireland, Tetiana Sybiha helped open a Ukrainian Book Corner at the LexIcon Library and Cultural Centre in Dublin. This initiative is spearheaded by Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska. The book corner was unveiled alongside Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council Chairperson Jim Gildea. The event highlights Ukraine’s cultural presence on the global stage and promotes Ukrainian literature abroad.

Ukraine’s involvement in the EUFASA conference underscores the country’s growing international engagement, particularly in supporting diplomatic families.

The launch of the Ukrainian Book Corner in Ireland represents another step in advancing Ukrainian culture overseas, helping to strengthen international ties and raise the profile of Ukrainian literature. Such initiatives can play a significant role in shaping a positive image of Ukraine worldwide.

The recent initiatives by Ukraine to enhance its cultural diplomacy are evident not only in the establishment of the Ukrainian Book Corner in Dublin but also in events like the Diplomatic Charity Fair, which successfully raised significant funds for various charitable causes. Such efforts reflect the country's commitment to fostering international relationships and supporting its diplomatic community.
