The press service of the Pension Fund of Ukraine reported that if a husband dies, his wife can receive his pension if they lived together at the time of his death. The woman must not only be of retirement age but also a non-working relative.

'According to the law of Ukraine 'On Full State Pension Insurance', a wife who has reached retirement age is considered a non-working family member and has the right to a pension in connection with the loss of the breadwinner, if they lived together at the time of his death,' the Pension Fund of Ukraine explained.

The pension amount in case of loss of the breadwinner will be half of the pension received by the deceased husband. In addition, pensioners over 75 years old are entitled to a monthly supplement of 456 hryvnias. However, it is important to note that changing to this pension only makes sense if its amount exceeds the current old-age pension.

Additional Information

Such payments are assigned for the entire period of recognition of the recipient as non-working in accordance with the legislation. For those who have already reached retirement age, the pension for loss of the breadwinner will be paid for life.

The Pension Fund of Ukraine clarified the conditions under which a deceased husband's wife can receive a pension, which need to be taken into account when submitting the necessary documents and payments. This information will be useful for individuals in such a situation and will allow them to exercise their legal rights.
