DTEK Energy Hires 5,300 Displaced Ukrainians, Facilitating Career Transitions

DTEK Energy надає можливості працевлаштування для 5,300 внутрішньо переміщених осіб, сприяючи їхньому адаптуванню на нових професійних шляхах.

Successful Employment for Internally Displaced Persons

Since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022, DTEK Energy has provided jobs for approximately 5,300 internally displaced persons (IDPs). The company's operations span the coal mining, power generation, and machine-building sectors, with over 80% of these new hires joining its coal mining enterprises. This effort is part of a broader corporate response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the war.

DTEK's Social Responsibility Initiatives

A significant number of those hired lacked prior mining experience but received necessary training or retraining directly on the job. DTEK Energy's CEO, Oleksandr Fomenko, emphasized the company's commitment:

“The war has forced millions of Ukrainians to rebuild their lives, and it is crucial for us to stand with them during this time. We continue to systematically implement support programs for communities in the regions where our enterprises are located, helping Ukrainians adapt and work even under the difficult conditions of a full-scale war.”

In a related development, DTEK, founded by Rinat Akhmetov, was ranked the top employer for 2025 among energy companies, highlighting its positive impact on the labor market during the ongoing crisis.

DTEK Energy's initiative underscores the vital role of corporate social responsibility during wartime, aiding the integration of IDPs into new communities. Providing training and retraining in unstable conditions is a key step toward national economic recovery and supporting those facing severe hardship. Recognition as a leading employer further validates the importance of such programs for maintaining stability and development within Ukraine's labor market.

In addition to supporting internally displaced persons, DTEK is also committed to aiding veterans, recently expanding its employment initiative to 24 locations. This move reflects the company's broader strategy to foster inclusivity and provide diverse job opportunities amidst ongoing challenges.
