Nearly Two Million Ukrainian Homes Regained Power in May Thanks to DTEK

Понад два мільйони українських домівок знову отримали електроенергію у травні завдяки зусиллям компанії DTEK.

Power Restoration Efforts Across Ukraine

In May 2024, Ukraine’s energy provider DTEK announced the successful restoration of electricity following a series of Russian strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure. Despite ongoing attacks, the company’s energy workers managed to bring power back to nearly two million households across Ukraine, covering approximately 1,600 towns and villages.

The restoration of electricity supply took place in several key regions, including:

  • Donetsk region – power restored to 1.3 million families;
  • Dnipropetrovsk region – 607,000 families;
  • Odesa region – 76,700 households;
  • Kyiv region – 22,100 homes.

DTEK reported that throughout the final month of spring, the enemy continued to target civilian areas, damaging critical energy facilities.

“Despite all security challenges and the difficulties of wartime, DTEK’s energy workers managed to fully or partially restore electricity to residents of nearly 1,600 settlements and bring power back to almost 2 million Ukrainian homes,” the company stated.

For context, in April 2024, DTEK restored power to 1.5 million families, reflecting the company’s sustained commitment to rebuilding the grid under war conditions.

The Importance of Restoring Power

Restoring electricity in Ukraine is a critical step in countering the impacts of war and reestablishing social stability. DTEK’s efforts to supply power to the population highlight the vital role of energy infrastructure during armed conflict. This process also demonstrates the resilience and endurance of the Ukrainian people, who, despite immense hardships, continue to rebuild their lives.
