Road Accidents in Kyiv Region in 2025: 241 Dead and Over 2600 Injured

Statistics of Road Accidents in Kyiv Region

In 2025, 2101 road accidents with casualties were recorded in the Kyiv region. In these accidents, 241 people died, and 2646 were injured. Overall, during the same period, police registered 25934 road accidents in Ukraine, which resulted in 3249 deaths and 31898 injuries.

The main causes of road accidents in the Kyiv region include:

  • exceeding the safe and established speed limits,
  • violations of maneuvering rules,
  • violations of intersection crossing rules.

In particular, 643 accidents occurred because drivers were intoxicated. In these accidents, 73 people died, and 857 were injured.

Recent Events on the Roads

Due to the high level of road accidents in the Kyiv region, on February 6th, a serious accident involving three minibuses occurred on the Kyiv-Odessa highway. As a result of the collision, a woman born in 1967 died at the scene, and two people sustained serious injuries and were trapped inside the vehicles.

Additionally, on February 1st, an accident occurred in Kyiv, where police arrested a 26-year-old driver involved in an accident on Ivan Vyhovsky Street. The driver of the BMW X5 crossover was traveling from Stetsenka Street towards the European Union Boulevard.

This statistical data indicates the necessity of enhancing control over compliance with traffic rules, especially in light of the high accident rates, which require urgent measures to improve road safety.

The increase in the number of road accidents in Ukraine, particularly in the Kyiv region, poses a challenge for authorities to take effective measures to enhance road safety. It is important for law enforcement agencies to strengthen control over adherence to traffic rules and to implement campaigns to raise drivers' awareness of the dangers associated with violations. This may include both strengthening penalties for offenses and educational programs aimed at reducing instances of drunk driving.
