Two people fell through the ice on the Dnieper in Kyiv: rescuers saved them

У Києві двоє людей опинились під кригою на Дніпрі: рятувальники оперативно їх витягли.

Incident on the Dnieper

On January 4 in Kyiv, an emergency occurred on the Dnieper River: two people fell through the ice. The incident happened near the Rusanivska Embankment. The victims were a boy and a girl, approximately 20-25 years old. The distance from the shore to the place where they fell through the ice was about 300 meters.

Rescuers quickly arrived at the scene and pulled the young people from the water. After this, the victims were handed over to medics for further hospitalization. This once again emphasizes the importance of following safety rules during winter recreation on water bodies.

Warning from rescuers

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) warns about the danger of going onto the ice. As rescuers state,

“brittle ice leaves no room for error - do not go onto the ice, it is a direct and deadly danger”
. This incident serves as a reminder to be careful and attentive to avoid tragic incidents during the winter period.

This case is a vivid example of the risks associated with winter activities on water bodies. Despite the possibly attractive conditions for active recreation, it is important to remember the dangers that can arise due to unstable ice. The rescuers' recommendations for safety aim to prevent similar incidents in the future, as incorrect actions can lead to serious consequences.

  • Follow safety rules during winter recreation.
  • Do not go onto brittle ice.
  • Be attentive and careful near water bodies.

Winter in Ukraine brings not only beauty but also risks that require caution and a conscious approach to nature recreation.
