Ukrainian Tennis Players at Wimbledon 2026

Veronika Podrez and Vitaliy Sachko have been named to the Wimbledon 2026 qualifying entry list. Qualifying matches begin on June 22, 2026, while the main tournament runs from June 29 to July 12, 2026. For context, Wimbledon is one of tennis’s four Grand Slam events and is widely regarded as the sport’s most prestigious grass-court championship.

Podrez, aged 19, is set to compete in a Grand Slam tournament for only the second time in her career, following her debut at Roland Garros 2026. In April 2026, she fought her way through qualifying to reach the final of the WTA 250 event in Rouen, France, where she ultimately lost to Marta Kostyuk. That performance made her the 14th Ukrainian woman to reach a WTA Tour final in history.

Vitaliy Sachko, 28, currently holds the top ranking among Ukrainian men. He has also secured a spot in the qualifying draw. In past appearances at Wimbledon, Sachko was eliminated in the first round of qualifying three times. However, during the 2026 season, he managed to earn a place in the main draw of the ATP 500 tournament in Munich, where he defeated top-100 player Damir Džumhur. This marked the third time in his career that he advanced to the main draw of an ATP 500 event.

Wimbledon 2026 Main Draw

Ukrainian women already guaranteed a place in the Wimbledon 2026 main draw include:

  • Elina Svitolina
  • Marta Kostyuk
  • Dayana Yastremska
  • Yuliia Starodubtseva
  • Oleksandra Oliynykova
  • Anhelina Kalinina
  • Daria Snigur

Notably, Marta Kostyuk achieved a major career milestone by reaching a Grand Slam semifinal after defeating Elina Svitolina in the French Open quarterfinals with a score of 6:3, 2:6, 6:2.

As a result, Ukrainian tennis continues to be represented on the international stage, and the participation of Podrez and Sachko in Wimbledon 2026 qualifying highlights the rise of young athletes in the country.

These developments reflect positive trends in the growth of tennis in Ukraine, which could help attract new talent and boost the sport’s popularity among younger generations.

As Ukrainian players prepare for Wimbledon 2026, it's worth noting that they have already made a significant impact this season, setting a remarkable record with multiple finals appearances.
