EBRD allocates 95 million euros for the modernization of Ukrainian hydropower plants

EBRD provides a loan for the modernization of hydropower

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is allocating 75 million euros in loans for the modernization of Ukrainian hydropower. The agreement was signed on January 7, 2026, and the total support package will amount to 95 million euros, including investment grants from international donors of up to 20 million euros. The project is planned until 2030.

Key modernization facilities

The key facilities for modernization will be:

  • Dnipro HPP in Zaporizhia
  • Kyiv HPP in Vyshhorod
  • Kyiv PSHP

Grant funds will be directed to the branch 'Kaniiv HPP'.

Olha Zykoava, EBRD representative, expressed gratitude to European partners for attracting 95 million euros in financing for the restoration of Ukrainian hydropower plants.

This project aims to increase the efficiency and reliability of hydropower installations in Ukraine, which is an important step towards the sustainable development of the country's energy sector.
