In Ukraine, starting from January 1, the new unified ticket format for all types of public transport officially came into effect. The innovation aims to unify trip confirmation and make fare payment more transparent for passengers regardless of the type of transport or payment method. This is reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.
The relevant changes are enshrined in the order No. 1066, which establishes mandatory requirements for tickets in both paper and electronic formats. Both options are considered equivalent and can be used simultaneously.
Unified ticket format in Ukraine: which transport it applies to
The new ticket format applies to all major types of public transport, including:
- urban and suburban bus routes;
- intercity and international buses;
- trams and trolleybuses;
- metro.
Electronic tickets can be provided in the form of a QR code, a record in a mobile application, or a message to an email. They have the same legal validity as paper tickets.
New ticket format: what information it must contain
From now on, each ticket for travel must necessarily contain:
- the fare with indication of the full or discounted rate, VAT, and commission if applicable;
- registration number – serial, fiscal, or unique identifier for electronic tickets;
- date and time of departure or arrival or the validity period of the ticket;
- carrier data, including name, EDRPOU code or RNOCPP, address, and contacts;
- information about the insurance policy and insurer;
- QR code on the front side of the ticket if the format allows it.
Previously, in automated fare collection systems, passengers often received only notifications of funds debited from bank or transport cards without a full ticket. The new system eliminates this problem and ensures clear confirmation of the trip fact.
Recall that the EIB transferred 83.6 million euros for public transport and infrastructure in Ukraine.
