Europe’s Most Stunning Cities

A survey of 24,000 locals has ranked the six most beautiful cities in Europe based on their votes. Edinburgh topped the list with 84% approval, reflecting its strong appeal among both tourists and residents. Lisbon came in second with 74%, followed by Paris in third place with 68%.

The ranking also includes:

  • Stockholm
  • Porto
  • Riga

In total, the list features ten cities where a majority of respondents answered positively. These results highlight the range of architectural styles and cultural features that define these destinations.

Architecture expert Grace Beard noted: 'The contrast of architectural styles—from the Georgian terraces of the New Town to the narrow, winding medieval streets of the Old Town and its striking Gothic spires—makes the Scottish capital a true delight for walking.'

This explains why Edinburgh secured the top spot. The survey also mentioned three European destinations with reduced summer prices:

  • Bulgaria saw an average price drop of £60 (3560 Ukrainian hryvnias) per person.
  • Montenegro experienced a reduction of about £53 (3145 Ukrainian hryvnias) per person.
  • Turkey recorded a price decrease of roughly £35 (2077 Ukrainian hryvnias) per person.

These changes could make these spots even more attractive for travelers this summer. The survey results underscore how cultural and architectural features shape a city’s image and tourism appeal. Edinburgh’s top ranking may boost tourist numbers to Scotland, while lower prices in Bulgaria, Montenegro, and Turkey could heighten competition among popular vacation spots. This highlights the role of economic factors in choosing travel destinations.

As cities like Edinburgh gain recognition for their beauty, travelers may also be drawn to destinations with more affordable summer options. For instance, significant price drops have been reported for holiday packages to Turkey and Bulgaria, making them increasingly appealing choices for those looking to explore Europe without breaking the bank.
