During a meeting with partners on the implementation of the new strategy for children's rights to upbringing in a family environment, Lyudmyla Shemelinets, the first deputy minister of social policy, family and unity of Ukraine, emphasized the importance of an effective child protection system for the country's future.

She also stressed that even in the conditions of a difficult situation, the state continues to develop services for children and families. For example:

  • The number of foster families has increased by 2.5 times;

  • More than 1200 children have received temporary, yet safe shelter in family conditions;

  • In 15 regions, comprehensive service packages for families have been implemented to help overcome crises and avoid separation from the child;

  • A pilot project 'Family Home' has been launched in 12 regions;

  • Systematic support for children who have returned from deportation and occupation continues as part of the President's initiative Bring Kids Back UA.

The efforts made by Ukrainian authorities to support and protect children are not only important in the context of national priorities but also contribute to the building of European standards of welfare and child protection in Ukraine.
