Funding from the European Investment Bank
Ukraine has received funding from the European Investment Bank amounting to over 83 million euros for urban development, including transport projects and improving energy efficiency. These funds will be directed toward the implementation of several important initiatives that will contribute to the improvement of infrastructure and the quality of life in Ukrainian communities.
Main areas of funding utilization
In particular, the funding will be used for:
- Development of cross-border railway crossings;
- Procurement of rolling stock for the cities of Lviv, Dnipro, Ternopil, and Kremenchuk;
- Construction of a transport depot in Lviv;
- Thermal modernization of public buildings;
- Improving energy efficiency of dormitories and educational buildings.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the European Investment Bank has provided Ukraine with over 860 million euros in funding. As Olhazykova noted,
“Cooperation with the European Investment Bank allows communities not only to rebuild critical infrastructure but also to enhance the quality of municipal services and implement modern, sustainable solutions even in wartime.”This funding will be an important step in supporting Ukrainian cities during difficult times.
The funds received from the European Investment Bank demonstrate the continuation of international support for Ukraine, which is a significant factor in the country's economic recovery. Investing in infrastructure and energy efficiency will not only improve living conditions in cities but also contribute to the creation of new jobs, which is critically important in the context of war and economic instability. These initiatives can also stimulate local business development and strengthen social infrastructure, which in turn will enhance the resilience of communities to the challenges they face.
