Forecast of price growth for food products
Economist Volodymyr Chizh predicts an increase in food prices in Ukraine at the beginning of 2026, particularly for vegetables and fruits. According to him, prices for basic vegetables may rise by 5-7%, while fruits may become at least 10% more expensive.
Chizh notes that in annual terms, fruit prices have already increased by 50% or more. The expert points out that rising costs for energy resources, storage, logistics, and fertilizers may lead to further price hikes for vegetables, bread, and basic goods.
Volodymyr Chizh emphasizes that since imported products currently dominate in Ukraine, a further increase in fruit prices of at least 10% should be expected at the beginning of 2026.
These forecasts raise concerns among consumers, as rising food prices can significantly impact household budgets.
Impact of price increases on the economy
The rise in food prices is an important factor affecting the economic stability of the country and the well-being of the population. In conditions of high inflation and rising production costs, consumers may face difficulties in managing their budgets. This may lead to changes in consumption habits and overall demand for food products, which in turn may affect the agricultural sector of Ukraine.
