Ukraine possesses means to counter reactive 'shaheds'. Anatoly Khrapchinskiy, the deputy general director of a company specializing in electronic warfare, emphasized the importance of developing a detection and identification system for drones to successfully combat them. He noted that hostile actions are becoming increasingly complex, complicating detection, identification, and counteraction.
'Undoubtedly, when we talk about a reactive 'shahed', it is not a complex target to intercept. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are equipped with MANPADS with heat guidance, and moreover, this is a reactive drone that leaves a thermal trace,' Khrapchinskiy explained.
The expert noted that for civilians, it is important to stay in shelters during air attacks, as drones represent faster targets. At the same time, mobile fire groups with Browning M2 machine guns are ineffective against such targets. Effective air defense should utilize a variety of interception means with distributed interception.
'Target analysis, characteristics, trajectory construction, and then we understand where we need to shoot and what to shoot with,' Khrapchinskiy told.
Ukraine is actively developing a detection and identification system for drones to efficiently combat them. Experts point out the need for a variety of interception means with distributed interception for successful defense against air attacks.
