AI Browser Polar Hits the Market

On July 30, 2026, the AI-powered browser Polar was officially introduced. Its founder, Kevin Jang, previously worked at Perplexity. This browser is built for knowledge workers—professionals in fields such as:

  • sales
  • recruiting
  • marketing
  • research
  • business operations

Polar’s features include workflow planning, the ability to save queries, and assigning tasks to AI agents based on open browser tabs. AI-powered browsers are emerging as a new category of productivity tools, tailored for professional workflows.

The browser is free to use, with users receiving a daily allotment of credits for AI tasks. For higher limits, a subscription is available starting at $20 per month. The product secured $5.7 million in funding, led by Madrona. Investors also include former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke.

Kevin Jang noted that Polar is not aimed at the mass consumer market. “If you think about end consumers, they aren’t booking flights or placing orders every day or week. There was no strong incentive for the average user to switch to an AI browser and find value in it.”

This launch comes as OpenAI’s Atlas browser is set to shut down on August 9, 2026, having launched in October 2025. Polar aims to fill that gap by focusing specifically on professional needs. The discontinuation of Atlas could create an opportunity for Polar, as users seeking similar capabilities may turn to this new product.

Polar’s debut underscores a rising demand for specialized tools among knowledge workers. As the AI browser market expands, Polar is carving out a niche by offering features tailored to business needs rather than general browsing.
