Emergency power outages in Ukraine
Emergency power outages have been introduced in Kyiv, Kyiv region, and Dnipropetrovsk region. This is reported by 'Glavkom' referencing DTEK.
In particular, emergency outages have been implemented in Poltava, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zhytomyr regions. The reason for the restrictions is the aftermath of previous Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure.
It should be noted that as a result of Russian attacks, part of the Sumy community remained without electricity. 'Sumyoblenergo' reports that, on the instruction of NEC 'Ukrenergo', emergency outage schedules have been introduced in the Sumy region. Currently, outage schedules are in effect for the first, second, third, and fourth groups of consumers.
Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure
On the night of October 10, the Russian Federation again launched a massive attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure objects. The strike coincided with the anniversary of the first strikes on the energy system, which the occupiers began in 2022. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Russian Federation attacked the Ukrainian energy system with over 450 drones and more than thirty missiles.
Also, on the night of October 14, they attacked Ukraine. The main targets were energy facilities.
Additionally, Zelensky stated that Ukraine may start importing electricity this winter due to hostile attacks on the energy infrastructure.
In connection with the emergency power outages in Kyiv and some regions of Ukraine, the consequences of Russian attacks are becoming tangible for the population of the country. The government is forced to take urgent measures to ensure energy security and restore the operation of affected facilities.
