President Zelenskyy on EU Agreements

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that agreements with the European Union for a €90 billion loan and a new sanctions package against Russia are now being implemented. This decision was approved by the ambassadors of EU member states. The loan is structured to be disbursed over a two-year period. This substantial financial package underscores the EU's commitment to supporting Ukraine's economy and defense as the conflict continues.

Zelenskyy stated that

"the implementation of our agreement with the European Union to unlock the €90 billion support package for Ukraine over two years, as well as a new sanctions package against Russia for this war, is now effectively underway"
at the level of the EU's Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper).

Cooperation with European Leaders

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with European leaders, particularly regarding the opening of clusters for Ukraine.

"We will also speak with European leaders about opening clusters for Ukraine: the conditions for this have already been met. We continue to work on strengthening sanctions against Russia and on further developing the European energy system so that Russia loses the ability to manipulate energy supplies to Europe,"
he stressed.

The first tranche of military aid will be directed toward the purchase of Ukrainian-made drones. This step is part of Ukraine's efforts to strengthen its defensive capabilities amid the ongoing aggression. The support from the EU thus provides significant financial backing aimed not only at economic stability but also at military reinforcement in the face of external challenges.

The approval of EU financial support and the new sanctions package against Russia highlight the sustained international solidarity with Ukraine during the conflict. The €90 billion loan, along with military aid focused on bolstering defense, demonstrates the commitment of European nations to support Ukraine in its fight for independence. These measures are also likely to impact the geopolitical situation in the region, particularly concerning Europe's energy security and the stability of relations with Russia.
