Croatian pipeline operator JANAF has declared its readiness to meet the needs of oil refineries in Hungary and Slovakia. A JANAF representative stated, 'As a strategic EU energy hub and the sole secure route for crude oil to Central Europe, JANAF is fully prepared to satisfy the annual requirements of refineries in Slovakia and Hungary.' This development is part of a broader European strategy to reduce reliance on a single, vulnerable supply corridor.
EU Commission's Plan to Ban Russian Oil Imports
Further solidifying this energy pivot, the European Commission plans to present a legal proposal on April 15 for a permanent ban on Russian oil imports into the EU.
