The European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius reported on the interest of EU countries in the capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry. Noting that Ukraine's defense sector is attractive to the European Union, he also emphasized the usefulness of EU tools and programs for our country.
'This is recognition that Ukraine's defense industry is attractive to the EU. It is also recognition that EU tools and programs can be very beneficial for Ukraine,' Kubilius emphasized.
According to him, information on the use of SAFE credits to support Ukraine will be available shortly. It is worth noting that unofficially it is already known that several countries have expressed interest in this instrument for cooperation with Ukraine.
'This is recognition that Ukraine's defense industry is attractive to the EU. It is also recognition that EU tools and programs can be very beneficial for Ukraine,' he emphasized.
Kubilius reminded that the SAFE instrument was developed with the needs of Ukraine in mind, although our country itself cannot receive credit directly. However, EU member states can use this instrument for purchases 'for Ukraine, in Ukraine and/or together with Ukraine.'
The Ukrainian defense industry has attracted the interest of EU countries that are ready to use the SAFE program for cooperation with Ukraine. This recognition reflects the potential of our sector and the possibilities of European assistance for the development of the Ukrainian defense sector.
