The Estonian Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur reported on the possible deployment of a German-Dutch corps in Estonia. This could be a step within NATO's broader strategy to enhance defense capabilities. A final decision is expected soon, notes ERR.

This specific plan is connected to a larger NATO initiative that covers the German-Dutch corps in our area of responsibility and their forward command post. It concerns our allies who perform commanding functions at the corps level, plus, of course, our own service members and conscripts. This is quite significant in terms of defense forces.

According to the minister, the corps could accommodate 100-200 personnel and the necessary infrastructure. The location in Pärnu was chosen due to its strategic position near key facilities and transportation infrastructure.

Ukraine continues to move towards deepening cooperation with NATO, which includes various joint projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening collective security in the region.
