Family Evacuated from the Frontline Zaporizhzhia Region
Rescue officers evacuated an elderly couple from the frontline area of Zaporizhzhia, also bringing the woman's 94-year-old father to safety. The elderly man, who relies on crutches to move, was in a particularly vulnerable position due to the constant shelling in the area. The Zaporizhzhia region has been a focal point of intense fighting since the early stages of the full-scale invasion.
The woman, who decided to leave her home with her family, shared her harrowing experience:
“It became terrifying to live… Shelling is a daily occurrence. You just sit in the house and wait for where the next one will hit. We held on for a long time because this is our home, our whole life is here. But when the explosions got closer and it became harder for my father to take cover, we decided to leave.”
This story underscores the dire humanitarian situation in Ukraine's frontline areas, where civilians face daily danger from military actions. The family's evacuation is just one of countless instances where civilians are forced to abandon their homes in search of safety.
The situation in the region remains tense, and the continuation of shelling raises serious concerns for the lives and health of the remaining residents.
