The Federation of Jewish Communities in Spain condemned the chanting 'Israel – murderers!' by Sevilla fans. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing fcje.org.



Sevilla fans chanted 'Israel – murderers!' when Villarreal winger Manor Solomon came on as a substitute during the 6th round of the Spanish championship. The Israeli scored the winning goal in 2 minutes.



Condemnation of discrimination in sports


The Federation of Jewish Communities in Spain, the official representative of Spanish Jews, condemns the unacceptable insults directed at footballer Manor Solomon by some Sevilla fans due to his Israeli origin. We want to express our strong support for the Villarreal athlete. There is no place for hatred and discrimination in sports and society; football should always be a space of respect, passion, and unity, regardless of nationality or beliefs.


“We reaffirm our commitment to the values of coexistence and equality. Today, more than ever, we stand by Manor, remembering that diversity makes sports richer and more expansive,” the statement reads.


The organization also condemned any manifestations of anti-Semitism, racism, or xenophobia.
