Europe is facing serious challenges from Russia that pose a threat to the security of the continent. European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius has called on EU countries to forcibly strengthen their defense capabilities to prevent capitulation.
Kubilius recalled an ancient Roman wisdom and rephrased it for modernity: 'If you want peace, prepare for war. Or, another option: prepare for capitulation if you desire peace in the style of Putin.'
According to the Commissioner, Russia constantly provokes the countries of the European Union and hinders their defense measures. Europe needs to enhance not only its material but also its institutional and political readiness for defense in order to counter aggression from Moscow and ensure peace on the continent.
'We are indeed under attack. We must be ready. To be united in defense and deterrence,' Kubilius emphasized.
Kubilius acknowledged that Europe is not yet prepared for modern warfare, where drones play a key role. He urged EU countries to cooperate with NATO and noted that drones could become an important tool for detecting and targeting enemy objectives in the event of aggression.
The Commissioner emphasized the need to strengthen Europe's defense efforts amid provocations from Russia and the increasing threat to the continent's security. His calls for forcibly enhancing readiness for defense and cooperation with NATO indicate the seriousness of the situation and the need for unity to ensure peace in the region.
