European Solidarity Calls for Urgent Parliamentary Review

The European Solidarity faction has urged the Ukrainian Parliament to summon law enforcement leaders and human rights commissioners to provide detailed reports on the November 2 incident in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka. Alongside this, they seek a comprehensive discussion on military mobilization policies, service terms, and soldiers’ financial support. To advance these priorities, the faction has formally requested the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada to convene a coordination council without delay.

Key Officials to be Invited

Those proposed for invitation include the heads of:

  • National Police of Ukraine
  • State Bureau of Investigations
  • Security Service of Ukraine
  • Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets
  • Commissioner for the Rights of Servicemen, Olha Reshetylova

Parliamentarians intend to receive updates on the incident’s circumstances and the progress of the ongoing investigation. The State Bureau of Investigations has opened a case regarding possible abuse of power by a military official in the area.

The faction also insists on a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and parliamentary faction leaders to address mobilization strategies, defense forces’ provision, and increased monetary compensation for military personnel. As MP Iryna Herashchenko emphasized,

“Mobilization efforts must respect human rights, and law enforcement agencies are responsible for ensuring a transparent inquiry into the Petropavlivska Borshchahivka events.”

In addition, European Solidarity proposes allocating an extra 515 billion hryvnias to the Armed Forces in the 2027 state budget by reallocating funds from other areas such as telemarathons and cashback programs. They are demanding parliamentary consideration of bills covering service duration, fair troop rotations, incentive packages, and enhanced military pay. Herashchenko also highlighted the necessity of modernizing military management aligned with NATO standards.

Meanwhile, law enforcement exposed a corrupt scheme in Dnipropetrovsk region, where financial officers of a military unit illegally awarded themselves and associates additional bonuses, causing state budget damages totaling nearly 4 million hryvnias.

European Solidarity’s call to convene the parliamentary coordination council underscores the urgent need to address issues critical to Ukraine’s defense capability and servicemen’s rights. The Petropavlivska Borshchahivka incident and its investigation have intensified focus on transparency within military administration.

Furthermore, their budget proposals for 2027 reflect the vital importance of adequately equipping Ukraine’s military amid ongoing external threats, reinforcing national security priorities for the English-speaking international audience.

In light of the ongoing discussions about military funding and personnel support, it is crucial to examine the implications of the proposed 2027 budget. Recent critiques from European Solidarity regarding budget allocations highlight significant concerns over underfunding the military and the lack of necessary pay raises for troops. Understanding these financial strategies will be vital for assessing the overall support for the Armed Forces amidst current challenges.
