The European Investment Bank invested 18.4 million euros in energy-efficient modernization of schools, kindergartens, and hospitals in Ukraine

The European Investment Bank (EIB) invested 18.4 million euros in the 'Municipal Infrastructure Development Program of Ukraine' (UMIP). These funds are aimed at energy-efficient modernization of 28 schools, kindergartens, and hospitals in Ternopil, Zaporizhia, and Volyn regions.

The financing provided with EU guarantees through the Ukraine Facility instrument will help reduce expenses for electricity and utilities for communities. This is another step in supporting Ukraine by the European Union.

Specific areas of fund usage

  • energy-efficient modernization of 20 schools and kindergartens with the implementation of an energy monitoring system in Ternopil;

  • upgrading three medical institutions in Volyn region;

  • thermomodernization of five educational institutions in Zaporizhia.

'Together with our European partners, we are improving the infrastructure of Ukrainian communities. These projects are proof that EU programs, such as the Ukraine Facility, truly help us build a future — energy-efficient and modern'
— said Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba.

The UMIP program is a large investment project with a budget of 400 million euros aimed at modernizing municipal infrastructure. It helps improve heating supply, water supply, public buildings, and waste management.
