Europe needs thousands of new systems to protect against Russian drones

Europe lacks the appropriate defense systems to protect against possible attacks from Russia, particularly due to the numerous incursions of Russian drones into the airspace of the region. MyDefence CEO Dan Hermansen noted that to create an effective 'drone wall,' Europe needs to install thousands of new systems.

The number of installations needed for defense is enormous, and what exists today is very little

Hermansen called for significant investments in such technologies to provide adequate protection for Europe's critical infrastructure. He also emphasized that other countries are already showing interest in purchasing similar systems, which Ukrainian troops successfully use to defend against Russian drones.

Europe is under threat from Russian drones

Russian drones have recently attacked several European cities, including northern Aalborg in Denmark, which forcibly led to the closure of airspace for some time. This incident once again confirmed Europe's vulnerability to such attacks.

Airports around the world have forgotten about this threat. For years, this issue remained overlooked, but now airports find themselves very vulnerable

In Copenhagen, new security measures are being considered, including a ban on drone usage nationwide and enhanced security with the latest technologies. However, experts warn that Russia will likely find ways to bypass these restrictions and test the defensive systems of Europe.

Ukraine is ready to join the 'drone wall' project

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously expressed the initiative to strengthen air defense alongside allies. The European Union needs to improve its drone detection capabilities within a year, but creating a complete defense network on land and at sea will take significantly more time.

The threat of attacks from Russian drones in Europe is becoming increasingly pressing, highlighting the need for immediate measures to ensure safety and protection. Countries are seeking new ways and technologies to combat this threat, but it is crucial to consider the possibility of rapid adaptation by Russia and the enhancement of its attack methods.
