Recently, Ukraine has started to actively support scientific monitoring of fish farming. With the involvement of the European Union and the financial support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Institute of Fisheries, Marine Ecology, and Oceanography has received special equipment worth over 135 thousand dollars.

This step will allow for quality scientific monitoring of aquatic biological resources, improve fish farming management, and bring Ukraine closer to European standards. Among the provided equipment are vehicles for scientific expeditions, boats, optical and aquatic equipment for research.

“FAO will provide support for the sustainable development of fisheries in Ukraine,” emphasized the head of FAO Office in Ukraine, Shakhnosa Muminova.

In the future, together with the European Union, the organizations plan to support Ukraine in collecting quality data, responsible resource management, and modernizing the sector for sustainable development.
